Abstract Body : Introduction and Objective: in 2007, Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania adopted the Law on the Burial of Human Remains. The Law has set a legal base to the Body Donation Programme in our country. Materials and Methods: current results of Body Donation Programme (annual and total numbers of declarations of will, as well as annual and total number of cadavers received) were analysed. Results: in total, 319 donors (270 of them still alive) have joined the Body Donation Programme. Out of 49 passed away, eight bodies were not received by University, due to the reasons that will be discussed during the presentation. Currently, University receives 5-10 bodies a year. Conclusion: current numbers of annually received cadavers cover basic scientific and teaching need of the Anatomy Department. Significance: growing numbers of donated bodies was beneficial for medical students and professionals, however, it became challenging in the mean of embalming, deep freezing and plastination of human remains, as well as organisation of dissection courses and workshops.
