Rachel is a contributing medical illustrator working on the Human Biomolecular Project (HuBMAP) project with the Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center. She is primarily responsible for 2D illustrations of functional tissue units (FTUs,) created using traditional drawing layered with digital coloring. Rachel received her B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California and her M.S. in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Chicago at Illinois. Rachel operates Bajema Studios, LLC, providing medical illustration and animation services for academic, pharmaceutical and educational clients. Rachel is a print-maker, painter and outdoorswoman. She is the editor of the Medical Illustration Sourcebook (medillsb.com) and a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators, Guild of Natural Sciences, American Association for Anatomy and Seattle Print Arts.
