My research has evaluated prior anatomy knowledge in allied health students, and continues in this project with analysis of their pre-requisite anatomy courses. The primary goal of this research is to ensure that physician assistant students have the foundational anatomy knowledge necessary to perform well in their professional anatomy courses, and to continue building their clinical medical knowledge. This study is part of my dissertation work, and intends to close the learning gap between various levels of incoming anatomy knowledge, allowing students to focus on new material that will later be important for physical exam, imaging, surgery, and overall diagnosis of their future patients. Having an abstract accepted as a poster presentation award finalist will allow me to share the work I have been conducting, and continue to build my professional identity within anatomy education. As a PhD candidate, it is more important than ever to network and build relationships as I near entering the job market.
