Dr. Ranganath works as a senior lecturer in anatomy at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Singapore. He holds a Ph.D. degree in anatomy from St. Johns National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. He is a fellowship of the higher education academy (FHEA), UK. He is in academic teaching and research in higher education since 2001, and his teaching expertise is in human anatomy (gross anatomy, embryology, histology, and radiological anatomy).
His teaching philosophy is to make the teaching and learning sessions interactive, make the content comprehensive and relatable to the context, and nurture independent learning for the students. Medical Education is his research domain, focusing on the effectiveness of emerging technologies such as gamification, and e-applications in medical education focused primarily on anatomical education. Currently, he is exploring how personalized creative models enhance the metacognitive skills among medical students through his qualitative research and also exploring the patterns of learning through material objects.
Dr. Ranganath together with his collaborators has developed serious games for the development of non-academic skills for surgeons in training, and nurse education through a project called CODE BLUE.
Dr. Ranganath holds a good list of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations. He bagged the prestigious Nanyang education award for excellence in teaching for the year 2021 and the Deans's award for excellence in teaching for the year 2020.
In addition to teaching, Dr Ranganath serves as a house tutor to offer pastoral care and support to medical students.
