Assistant Professor & Clinical Nurse Anesthetist
University of Alabama at Birmingham
Trussville, Alabama, United States
Dr. Taylor is a rare breed of expert clinician and educator. He has been practicing nurse anesthesia for over a decade. During this decade of practice, he has had the opportunity to anesthetize hour-old neonates and centurions. While clinical anesthesia is his passion, Dr. Taylor has fulfilled leadership and academic faculty roles as well. In addition, he serves on multiple committees, including the ALANA Professional Development and Wellness committee to further contribute to the advancement of nurse anesthesiology.
Clinical anesthesia evolves at an incredibly fast pace due to continuous improvements in science and technology. While the technological advancements are vast, Dr. Taylor feels the ultrasonography software and equipment improvements are the most clinically impactful. He has personally seen hastened diagnoses and improved patient outcomes directly related to the implementation of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. He is passionate about mastering these skills and disseminating his expertise via student mentorship and professional development for his colleagues.
Most importantly, he is a proud husband and father of two beautiful children. He’s a man of many passions but swimming, cycling, and running are likely his top three.
