Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
Liezel Lenhart is a fourth-year medical student and an academic scholar for the Anatomy department at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, WA. As a scholar, she teaches anatomy and histology to medical students and conducts research. Her curiosity for the greater omentum was sparked when she saw it tacked up along the abdominal wall during a routine laparoscopic cholecystectomy. She learned about several innovative uses of the greater omentum in surgery but also discovered a lack of knowledge regarding its size and morphology. This inspired her to conduct her own research project. In addition to research, she will be returning to clinical rotations this summer and will be applying for general surgery residency programs this fall.
