University of Florida
Hello, there! My name is Sacha Sides (he/him). I am an undergraduate at the University of Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology. I am a sophomore, and I have been involved with undergraduate research since the summer after freshman year. I am the Treasurer on the executive board of uFASA (undergraduate Florida Anthropology Student Association), and I have been working through the latter half of this school year to organize a department magazine for my fellow students (see: https://www.emicmagazine.com/). I conduct my research within Dr. Valerie DeLeon's Virtual Morphology Lab, which uses geometric morphometrics to look at ontogeny and cranial morphology across primate taxa. I am also active in a research internship within Dr. Hongwu Wang's Technology for Occupational Performance Lab, where I am helping to design a portable device testing the strength of the big toe (ToeScale) to be used on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy patients. My own research interests lie in evolutionary anthropology, functional morphology, biomechanics, ontogeny, and sexual dimorphism. I am super grateful for all the faculty and lab support I have recieved to be presenting here today, and I am so excited to be participating in my first ever conference!
