I began my academic career at the University of California, Davis where I majored in Evolutionary Anthropology. This experience inspired an interest in human anatomy and osteology, through taking those courses as well as working in the osteology museum that was housed on the UCD campus. After my time at Davis and reflecting on my interests, I realized that teaching anatomy and osteology was something I could see myself doing for a career. This led me to move to New Orleans and pursue my Master of Science degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. Through that program, I became interested in educational research. I worked in biomedical research for several years where I was able to hone my histology skills through epithelial research. I began my teaching career at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, where I was able to gather extensive teaching experience. through this role, I learned a lot about diverse student populations and teaching techniques, leading me to focus on student-centered teaching. This interest is apparent in my research interestest and has carried with me to my current role at Louisiana State University Health Science Center, New Orleans. I have also continued my educational pursuits through Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I am enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Medical and Health Professionals Education, concentrating on Contemporary Anatomy Education. Through my Ph.D. I plan to continue to focus my research on learning environments and student-centered learning.
