I have expertise across varied scientific research and development projects, and have successfully introduced several technologies into microscopy markets. At AutoQuant Imaging, I led the development and commercialization of what is now the gold standard technology in deconvolution software for microscopy, AutoDeblur. This effort included directing SBIR-funded research into image processing algorithms and introducing a novel technology to early adopters.
Currently, I lead R&D and commercialization efforts at MBF Bioscience for multiple grant programs and products. These include NeuroDAS, NeuroManager, and HyperAxon, which address web deployment of neuroinformatic databases, AI-assisted neuroanatomic classification and cataloging, and large-scale, brain-wide axonal projection characterization. I also champion Biolucida, a virtual microsopy platform for sharing 2D and 3D whole-slide images over the internet. Biolucida is used by thousands of students studying histology and histopathology.
I am also responsible for BrainMaker and NeuroInfo technologies that automatically register brain images to atlases. This standardization enables the sharing and accumulation of brain measurements across animals, cohorts, and laboratories. I also manage MicroFile+, a free software tool for converting a large variety of microscopy image formats and their metadata into the FAIR compliant image formats.
Finally, I lead efforts at MBF Bioscience to make our technologies available to anyone with a web connection. Using Amazon Web Services End User Computing technologies (e.g., AppStream 2.0), we are developing methods that provide researchers with instant access to our applications over the internet that are scalable, affordable, and platform-independent.
Multidimensional microscopy investigations require the coordination of multiple technologies and terabytes of data spread over thousands of files and locations. I have successfully designed and evangelized technologies toward this purpose.
