Peer reviewed journals provide international forums for publishing advances in scientific or education research and teaching. However, many researchers, educators and teachers never receive formal training or guidance in how to write and publish their work. In this session you will meet the editors-in-chief of Developmental Dynamics, The Anatomical Record, and Anatomical Sciences Education and learn about strategies for identifying appropriate journals, tips for publishing your work, and common pitfalls to avoid. We will peel back the layers of the editorial process to remove the mystery about how papers are editorially evaluated and handled. We will discuss how to professionally and constructively review a manuscript, gain experience in reviewing, and the difference between a reviewer recommendation and an editorial decision. Lastly, even after your paper is published, communicating your discoveries to a broad scientific audience and to the wider public requires skill and training. Learn how to ensure your content is relevant to your audience, discover new Science Communication (SciComm) initiatives coming to AAA’s journals, and how you can be involved in promoting and communicating advances in science and education research and teaching.
Box lunch available to the first 60 attendees. First-come first serve.
